The monsoon season is here, and you need to make sure that your wipers are in good health for use. And that's something you can do yourself. It's a basic change but an extremely essential one that has a 100 per cent impact on visibility when driving. At the same time, it's something that can be handled easily at your home. All you need is your vehicle's owner's manual and 10 minutes from your busy schedule throughout the day to the job done. So, let's quickly show you how to change your car's windshield wipers in six easy steps.

Check your car's owner's manual to order the right size replacement blades

Wiper blades need to be changed at least once every two years. And to know which are the right ones, you can refer to your vehicle's owner's manual to get the right wiper blade sizes for your car. You can order the replacement blades online or buy them from a local store. There are multiple options available and do not mind spending a small premium on the good ones.

Raise the wiper blade arm away from the windshield

Once you've ordered the right wiper blade, it's time to actually change them. Raise the metal wiper arm and place it away from the windshield. Ideally, you can place a towel below in order to not damage the paint on the bonnet.

Unhook the old wiper blade and slide it out from the arm

With the arm up, unhook the old wiper blade to separate it from the metal arm. In a J-hook type wiper blade like the one our Skoda Kushaq test car, you need to press the lock button to do so. The blade comes off easily and you can place it at the side.

Remove the new wiper blade and slide it into the metal arm

Now remove the new wiper blade from the box and slide it into the same arm. Make sure the hook snaps into place and you will know the same with a loud "click" sound.

Make sure to check once if the wiper blade is locked in place before placing it back against the windshield

Check the wiper blade is in place with a gentle pull. Once sure, place the wiper back against the windshield.

Now that you know the process, simply repeat the same with the second wiper blade. And while you're at it, don't forget to replace the rear wiper blade as well.
