Built for SEMA 2019, "Brown Sugar" is now for sale.

A modern camper may offer quite a bit of equipment and space, but it's hard to find one that'll make you look cool. Many are—as Jezebel puts it—"f**kin hideous." Their large, slab-sided designs focus on space efficiency over style and efficiency, sacrificing just about everything to fit more cabinets and gadgets. If you want something cool, you're gonna have to get retro.

To be clear, I'm not talking about an old Winnebago. RVs have been pretty consistently ugly for decades, but smaller campers often offer a lot more personality. The Edsel "Kozy Kar Kamper"—unfortunately named and never to be abbreviated—offered a cool alternative to those who wanted Fifties Americana vibe. For those who want more of a Seventies aesthetic, though, EngineSwapDepot spotted this Chevy C30 Camper built for SEMA 2019.

Of course, a 1983 C30 built for a 2019 show doesn't immediately sound like the best way to get a Seventies look. Luckily, the builders of "Brown Sugar" were serious about the design brief, incorporating the campy, groovy style of the era with earth-tone paint and curved striping.

The paintwork meshes well with its suspension, an air bag setup that allows it to drop into a full lowrider mode reminiscent of the classic Chevys that popularized lowrider culture. Inside, a symphony of brown plaid, velour, and dark leathers complete the earthy design theme. Fold-0ut beds, running water, a toilet, and a vintage Coca-Cola fridge make it a livable adventure vehicle.

Power comes from a 5.3-liter Chevy V-8, though a specific power output isn't specified. Shifting is handled by a four-speed automatic. Everything appears to be in immaculate shape, with only 80 miles shown on the odometer. Clearly it hasn't seen much camping yet, but if you want to change that it's for sale. It won't come cheap: with three days left on the eBay auction at the time of publication, the high bid is currently $100,099. Even at that price, the reserve has not been met.
