A furious gran wrecked a car belonging to her grandchildren’s mum in a revenge rampage after she was blocked from seeing them.

Sorelle Owens, 46, had ‘a few cans’ before she jumped on the bonnet of Bonnie Jones’ Fiat Punto.

She then let down the tyres, ripped of the rear wiper blade and knocked a wing mirror off.

The hairdresser was ‘fuelled by anger and frustration’ after not seeing her grandkids for at least three months, a magistrates court in Mold heard.

Owens had previously seen the children ‘on a daily basis’ – but this came to an end when her son split with Ms Jones after nine years together.

She claimed she had been ‘let down last minute’ for having contact with them.

As a result, she sought to ‘make the Punto undrivable’

Her destructive actions resulted in her being ordered to pay a £500 fine to the victim.

The court heard Owens was suffering from depression and anxiety at the time, and was experiencing some ‘severe menopausal symptoms’ on top of this.

Ceri Lewis, defending, pointed out she had admitted to criminal damage ‘from the very beginning’.

She added that the nan is due for another review of her medication which ‘should help with her mood for the future’.

District Judge Gwyn Jones said the defendant had ‘clearly allowed emotions to get the better of her’.

But he went onto say he admired her for admitting guilt straight away and could look at an alternative to prison as a result.

Alongside the fine, Owens was put under a night-time curfew. She will also pay £85 in court costs.
